Documented issues
Symptom → cause → what to check
The table grows with every episode. We only add issues we can back with a document: a service bulletin, a manual or a buyer's guide.
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Intermittent loss of variable lift and power above 6,000 rpm under high load | A bolt securing the rocker shaft can separate (2ZZ-GE engine) | Ask for proof that the rocker-shaft bolts were inspected or replaced. Toyota's US bulletin EG010-03 (19 May 2003) covers 2000–2002 US Celica GT-S cars; JDMBUYSELL notes it was not a Japanese recall.1 |
Not a service manual. This is information to help you ask the right questions. For repairs, follow the official documentation for your car and a qualified mechanic.
