How to read the numbers
One car per column
Each column is one version: one chassis code, one market, one model year. Most figures come from Toyota: its official history site with the original Japanese catalogues, the toyota.jp catalogue archive and Toyota (GB) press packs. Acceleration and top speed often come from Toyota (GB) press data or road tests; the note under the value names the market.
PS, hp, bhp and N·m
We show power and torque in the unit of the source. For the colours we convert: 1 hp = 745.7 W and 1 PS = 735.5 W, so 1 hp is about 1.014 PS; 1 kgf·m = 9.807 N·m, 1 lb·ft = 1.356 N·m and 1 mph = 1.609 km/h.* Some catalogues print gross ratings. We mark them and leave them out of the colours, because gross and net figures are measured to different rules.
Our own figures
Power-to-weight is our calculation: power in PS divided by kerb weight in tonnes, and only when both come from the same market. Where sources disagree, the table shows the figure for the version’s own market and lists the others under “Other figures”. “No data” means we have not found a source yet.
